Tecplot I/O/Data Format

The Tecplot TecIO library ("TECIO") may be distributed for the purpose of generating binary files compatible with Tecplot's software. We provide runtime libraries or you may compile the source yourself and link the library into your own solver.

These files are used to generate Tecplot Focus 2008 and Tecplot 360 2008 [11.2-0] format data. This version supports a shared mesh (e.g., one grid with multiple solution/results files), n-faced polyhedra, and transient datasets.

If you're using these libraries, please send a short note to Jennifer Meyer (Strategic Alliances Manager) or Jim Carson (Product Manager). This will let us apprise you of updates and bug fixes, plus we may be able to communicate your work to others.

Current version [December 2007, Tecplot build 11.2-0] supports n-faced polyhedral, sharing grids among multiple time steps, and strands (parts through time). The output files are readable by Tecplot 2008 or newer.

Data Format Guide
The source: tecio.zip is the source code for folks who want to compile on multiple platforms.
Example data: standard, polyhedron.

Older versions of the library are available:

Tecplot 360 2006 [May 2006, Tecplot build 11.0-4] - Transient support (including strands - parts through time), but no grid sharing. Files generated are readable by Tecplot 360 2006 or newer, Tecplot Focus 2008 or newer.

Tecplot 10 Release 6 [March 2005, Tecplot build 10.0-6] - Maximum compatibility at the expense of functionality. No strand support, no grid sharing, no polyhedra. Files generated are readable by Tecplot 10R6 or newer.
