These files are used to generate Tecplot Focus 2008 and Tecplot 360 2008 [11.2] or newer format data. This version supports a shared mesh (e.g., one grid with multiple solution/results files), n-faced polyhedra, and transient datasets. The representation for Time/date data, introduced in Tecplot 2008 [December 2007], is described in the Data Format Guide (below). There is no format change.
If you have an interest in outputting a solver code to a Tecplot format, please do not hesitate to contact our technical support team for consultation. Contacting us may significantly reduce your time in creating the output, plus it will aid in the creation of a product that will take advantage of Tecplot's capabilities. Informing us of your work also allows us to apprise you of updates and bug fixes to the library.
Library - [May 2008, Tecplot build 12.0] supports n-faced polyhedral, sharing grids among multiple time steps, and strands (parts through time). There is no special provision for Time/Date format - please consult the Data Format Guide (below). Using this library, output files will be readable by Tecplot 2008 (March 2008) or newer.

- Pre-compiled "preplot" executable (converts Tecplot ASCII to Tecplot block binary). This version is for Tecplot 360/Focus 2008 [March 2008].
Right-click to download the file to your system. On *nix, change it to executable (chmod 755 preplot*). You can optionally rename it to just "preplot"
Versions of the library are available:- Tecplot 360 2009 Currently supported release. Includes latest bug fixes and optimizations: N-faced polyhedra, time/date, grid sharing, and all the lastest bug fixes. Files generated are readable by Tecplot 360 2009 (November 2008) and newer, Tecplot Focus 2009 and newer.
- Tecplot 360 2008 [December 2007, Tecplot build 11.2] - n-faced polyhedra, time/date, grid sharing, and all the lastest bug fixes. Files generated are readable by Tecplot 360 2008 and newer, Tecplot Focus 2008 and newer.No bug fixes will be issued against this release
- Tecplot 360 2006 [May 2006, Tecplot build 11.0-4] - Transient support (including strands - parts through time), but no grid sharing. Files generated are readable by Tecplot 360 2006 and newer, Tecplot Focus 2008 and newer. No bug fixes will be issued against this release.
